Hi everyone my name is Manny Mannequin.
My Job is to pose for artist while they draw me.
Sometimes I can get fidgety and I don't think the artist likes it very much..I was getting bored of the everyday stuff so I decided I needed more adventure in my life! So one night I got board and decided that I would run away! I packed all my bag’s and snuck off out of the art studio and into the outside world. The outside world is a big scary place though! Much bigger than the small artistic studio that I came from. The world was scaring me and I started to miss home. I set up camp for the night and set up a nice fire place. GRRRRRRR. OH NO! A BEAVER! I picked up my things and ran away from it as fast as I could! Being made of wood didn't help because that was the beavers favorite food! Phew! I made it away! Now i’m really starting to miss home. My life didn't seem too bad after all! Suddenly I heard a large stomping noise coming from behind me, it was the artist coming to bring me home! What an adventure!

Digitropia Analysis

The artist Miwa Matreyek who created the animation Digitopia using hands, people, drawings of scientific equipment, drawings of cities and mountains Miwa Matreyek has created a digital utopia through many animation techniques. What I first noticed when I was watching the animation was the abstract way in which the animator used hands to tell a story, because of they are the first thing that appears on the screen when watching the animation. The colors that I notice are black, white, red and blue. These colors remain the same throughout the animation. The shapes throughout the animation were geometric. The lines in Digitopia are ones that are similar to nature. The texture in the animation is ruff in the parts of the animation that are based on actual photography and smooth in the parts that are computer generated. The Animation uses light and darkness to portray different places, but you are still able to see weather it is night or day because the artist will just make the image lighter to portray the daylight and darker to portray nighttime. The overall mood of the animation is that we should think about how we can take something out of its natural and happy environment, mutilating it and forcing us to work for the human population. The colours that the animator has used in the animation are blue white black and in very small amounts red. The colours give the animation a relaxed feel when there is blue and white and a harsh feel when it is black and white. Lines have been used in a non abstract way. In this work the texture plays an important role in creating the feel of the particular frame. The artist used light and dark to portray good and bad. It makes it clear for the audience to see what the artist is trying to convince you is good and what is bad. The overall effect of work is that it is confronting about how we exploit creatures and other living things for our own selfish advantages. The artist made a clear statement about the exploitation of animals in the animation, I think it means that we should take a second think about how we take happy creatures out of their habitat and force them to work for us. It relates to my life because my family breeds horses and lives on a large farm, .and we need to be careful that we aren't mistreating them in any way as we are using their skills .This artwork communicates an important message about slavery whether it be with an animal or human. I believe that the work is a high quality animation although it may be too complex for many people to understand if the artist was wanting to get a message out to a lot of people, however I also think that the uses of the elements of art to tell the story were cleaver and effective if you gave the time to study further into the piece

utopia

SHOT 1 :

A sun with rays behind it , it makes me think that it is a sun because it is circular and it is floating above the mountains.

A god with arms such as the Hindu god Karli , because it has multiple arms and it blinks and seems to have energy surrounding it, hands on top look like a crown.

SHOT 2

There is a lady there that seem to look like mother earth, it represents nature because in the brain you can see a flower, a butterfly and a tree.

Mother Nature sitting in the mountains which is close to god. So it could also represent a god in heaven or Utopia , transmitting thoughts

She could be dreaming of Utopia

SHOT 3
The hands are getting the thoughts that have been transmited from the shot before and are looking around and talking about it like a community, they are like antenas.

They are creatures that live in Utopia that are receiving energy from the woman in the shot before.

There are nails in the hands like the nails in Jesus hand.

SHOT 4
The hands are destroying the city

SHOT 5

A person controlling the hand

A news reader is being taken around the city

The hands have been mutated to work for humans

Could be related to the exploration of nature.

SHOT 6

The hands are working for the lady, whos arm has been turned into something else

These hands dont have the dots on them, they could be younger versions of the hands that are being trained and exploited

SHOT 7

When the sun rises they open up like flowers

Like 'solar' Panels that follow the energy

It says 'im not suppose to feel' is the lyrics in the music

SHOT 8
These symbols of the drawing on the hands

Like there replacing humans

FINAL REFLECTION FOR TERM 3

Year 9 Creative Media Animation Project – Term 03 2011

Mr Andrews

Post Production reflection/evaluation:

Respond to each of the following dot points (using complete sentences or paragraphs). You should include as much detail as possible in your responses.

· Discuss whether your final animation clearly reflects your original concept and planning and describe any elements you had to modify when creating the project;

I can say right now that my animation right now is completely different to what I had originally planned. I have been through the design stages of many different stories and have unfortunatly wasted time planning them before deciding that certain elements of the story that I had thought up were either too hard or too expensive.

· Explain how your animation skills developed during the project (i.e did you become more efficient?; did the quality of your animation improve?; did you have to use a variety of techniques? etc);

My iStop Motion skills developed a lot during the prosess because of the many test videos that Sam Flatly and I made.

· Describe any problems or difficulties you encountered during the animation process. These may include; technical difficulties, corrupt or missing files, difficulty using the editing software etc;

My problems included not being able to settle on an idea until it was very late. I also had many technical difficulties including not being able to save onto my usb. I would also have really liked to add music to my clip to add extra effects but again technical difficulties stopped me from doing this.

· Explain whether you made effective use of storyboards and planning to streamline the animation process;

I did not make effective use of my story boards, because I changed my ideas so often I ran out of time and was constently changing the ideas on the spot and not following any plan, which I can now see was even more time wasting.

· Describe any time-management issues you had during the project and describe the steps you used to improve in this area;

I had a lot of time management issues during this assignment for reasons stated earlier.

· Discuss whether you undertook adequate and detailed reflection to throughout your project. Have you provided enough evidence to support your work? (Look back at your blogs/journals and think about whether it looks like a whole term worth of work);

My refelctions were very un-detailed and irregular, in the future I will be sure to update my blog after every lesson

Discuss your feelings about the production task:

· Are you satisfied with the final result?

I think that I would have done a lot better on my project if I hade more time to work on it and therefore I am unsatisfied with my result.

· Did the animation process require more/less time than you had thought?

The animation project would have required more time to give a satisfactory result

· If you could start the project again what would you do differently?
I would stick to an idea and be more organized with my planning.

New Animation.....again!

Yet again things are very different to last time I posted. Things were getting a little complicated working with a partner so Sam and I decided that it would be best to work on our own projects. My NEW (yes that's right another new concept) is going to be about a fussy wooden statue who gets board of standing there while someone draws him so he decides to go off and explore around! I am going to have to do a lot of work at home to get this finished on time .. so im going to start story boarding now bye!

Current Progress for the Animation

Well... a lot has changed since last time I posted,
I have an entirely new concept for my animation. instead of the simple stop motion I am going to use fabric to create things, similar to the target under the apple tree commercial. I am also working with samantha flately. Some issues that we have encounter is that we are having trouble being able to find a camera that is high enough to get an shot in. We need to go out and buy some fabric in order to start creating the actual animation. My planning is coming along well and i am about to start my 3rd storyboard because the ideas keep changing!

Born in Seattle in 1947 is an animator working primarily in Clay animation. His concepts were very controversial and often surreal. His first movie was in 1964/65 and it was a 10minute short of animated cars.

Reflection so far...

So far this term I have started experimenting with animation-ish and iStop Motion and have started creating my short movie. My short movie is about a young girl who is sad in a black and white world and when a butterfly flyes past and brings color with it she becomes happy. It's a very basic storyline so I am relying more on my actual animation to bring the story to life. To create my movie I am going to use iStop Motion and Photoshop. I am going to make the whole thing black and white and obviously add the color when the happiness comes into her life .. i.e the butterfly. I am going to re-do the storyboard after re-thinking my idea.

Creative Media Assignment

A little bit of Happiness – Creative Media Animation Project Term 2, 2011

The idea of the animation is that there is this bright colourful happy girl living in a dull, colourless world. Then she starts to touch things and they turn into colour. After awhile a butterfly flies past and brings all the colours with it. To do this i am going to use the iStop Motion software and Photoshop

PLOT

1. Girl is sitting on bench sad in a black and white world

2. She stands up and smells a flower.. the flower becomes colourful

3. She turns more things colourful

4. A butterfly flies past and makes the whole world colourful

This iStop motion took us about 5 minutes and was just playing with the iStop motion software its two blobs :D

This is the first iStop motion that we have made and we will (hopefully) get better !

Photoshop ..term 1

This term we learnt how to use Photoshop. Overall I enjoyed learning how to use Photoshop, but it did have its difficulties.

When I was using Photoshop I found sticking to one idea very hard. Each lesson I would open Photoshop and start playing, then dislike my work and start all over again. Obviously this was quite time wasting because if whilst I was experimenting and I liked something that I did, the next time I would try to re-create things I would completely forget how I did it?!- and because I did not think ahead...... I chose not to save the experiments because I never thought I would use them for things like my blog. The thing that I struggled with the most was getting my head around the different tool's and how to use them. Also when masks were used but went showing up and tool's didn't do their job...it made my head spin!

During the creation part of the assignment my planning sheets did help, if only I kept a file on the computer! So maybe doing my planning in my book wasn't the best idea in the world but it did help at times. I tried to organize my time so that I made my first avatar in the 1st Week and my 2nd Avatar in the 3rd Week so that during the 1st week I had the opportunity to experiment and try to imagine what I wanted my Avatar to look like and also complete character planning info etc.

The character planning templates were very useful when it came time to thinking of how my Avatar was going to look and how it lived and therefore what the Avatar needed to survive

Unfortunately my blogging this term was not amazing and it is defiantly something that I need to improve on for next term. The reflections and step-by-step's of my Avatar are very basic but I have defiantly learnt what to do for next time.

The Photoshop unit has taught me many things to do with the software. Thanks to the assignment giving us a lot of room to experiment, I learnt what many different tools do and what effects they can create.

Looking at my final avatar's I am pleased with them, but imp sure with each day you are using Photoshop, you learn something new so therefore if I was to create another avatar I would be able to do much more with it.

If I was able to change certain aspects of my avatar I would probably just go through again and make it neater etc ... Just make it look more professional

If I could start the project again I would defiantly save each stage of my Avatar to make for a more interesting blog!

Overall I am pleased with the progress that I made in Photoshop this term!

This is my second Avatar. I took the original image and colored it blue and played around with some warrior marks using the mask tool. and then played around with the pattern tools. This is my second avatar and I used similar techniques to the first avatar.

Creating Avatar 1

Final !

After Color Was Changed
Original Background
Original Image

Creating My avatar

1st : I selected an image from the popular show America’s Next Top Model and started to create my Avatar idea.

2nd After I had decided the simple character planning of my Avatar I started looking for image’s for space to use as a background.

3rd I had my Avatar and my background and now I only needed to get creative in regards to what I wanted my “Corianthi” to look like.

4th Using the colour adjustment tool I made the original image a strange purple/blue colour to try and make the image look less human.

5th Using the Liquefy Filter I changed many features of her face…. I blew up her eyes to be abnormally large ad I also blew up her lips. (I did this because in my character planning it dose say that they use there eyes whilst hunting and the lips looked to “human” so they had to be changed.

6th I started playing with different filters and different colours to produce a very weird and wonderful Avatar for the next movie!

THE FINAL IMAGE!

Even though it's not Creative Media studies, I used photoshop to create it so I thought I would stick it on my blog!
Our task was to create a meaning full project (either still photograph, drama play, iStop Motion etc.) that represented Easter. I obviously chose Easter and here is the result!

WORRIED/SAD

In these images you can defiantly tell that the subjects are worried because of there eyes and the frown lines. Using the Liquefy tool i made the eye's droopier and the mouth curved down.

ANGRY!
In the angry emotion...the eyes are all quite slim and there faces are longer. Again I used the liquefy tool to make the eyes look smaller and the mouth slightly straighter

Surprised Look

In all of these images the eye's are very wide and there mouths are open. To create this look on the cheetah I used the liquefy tool and made the cheetah's eye's look very wide and I played around with the mouth to give it the "guppy" look .

CHEETAH EMOTIONS !

CHEETAH ORIGINAL IMAGE -
CHEETAH ANGRY!
CHEETAH WORRIED/SAD
SURPRISED CHEETAH
This week we were working on how to give images with no emotion...an emotion. When I was doing it I mainly used the Liquefy Tool to create the looks on the faces of this cheetah cub. The emotions that I chose to give to my subject included Surprised, Worried and Angry. As homework our task was to find 3 images of 3 different emotions. Using these helped me when I was changing the cheetah's face so that it did portray the emotion.

Ke$ha's Animal Album Cover

Another experiment that I tried with blending other images was Ke$ha's Animal Album. I took a panther and leopard and mixed it all up. The result was Ke$ha as a real animal!

Emma Watson WITH Photoshop
Emma Watson BEFORE PHOTOSHOP

Today was about learning how to photoshop imperfections out of photos. Gabby Bury found this photo that was obviously published for the promotion of Harry Potter but the blemishes still remained on Emma Watson face. Mr Andrews showed us how to use the heal tool to get rid of those nasty blemishes and make Hermione's face beautiful again... until we were taught how to use the liquefy tool to make her look weirdly-wonderful! Learning how to use this tool will be very helpful when I am creating my Avatar for this term's assignment as I will be able to mutate the subjects face, similar to the way I did for poor Emma Watson !

After experimenting with Rhianna and the tiger, I decided to do something completly different. I found a beyonce image that was quite simple and then gave her some nice tiger skin, wings , changed the texture of the wings and played with the colouring.

Rhianna and a Tiger

The next lesson we did , we had to mold a celebrity and animal together. I decided that a tiger and the singer Rhianna would work well together. Similar to the tree frog and emu exercise I took the head from the tiger and put it onto Rhianna's head. I erased the tigers eyes, so that the only tiger parts of her were the nose and around the eye area. I decided that I diddn't want the entire face of Rhianna's to be "tigerfied" because I wanted her to still look "believable" or like she was in a costume for a concert or something along those lines. Overall I think that as my knowledge of photoshop improves the quality of my work will become better and I will be able to create more believable projects, but for now I think it's ok!

First Creative Media Project

Our first photoshop project for the year was the emu and the frog or the "frogmu" . We created this by taking a photo of an emu and a frog then putting the images together. After we did that As a class we took the emu's head and put it onto the frog. We then had to adjust the colourating and make the emus head fit onto the frogs. It was a good task to start the year off as it taught us how to use the basic photoshop tools.
